Hey, look at the bright side!

Yeah, look at the bright side- there is no bright side! (Yes, I know it's a pointless thing to say) The thing is, being positive is not something easy. Sorry guys, I am whining. I would love to be a happy-go-lucky boy, but no one is that perfect, is it?

Nope, no sirree, everyone must be a positive person! I agree, and I know that in life, we deserve to love ourselves. People tell me to smile, to recognize, to appreciate, to enjoy the moment and not worry about the
past or the future. Call me depressed, or unhappy, but am I getting this right? There is always something on your mind that's bugging you.

On the plus side, as we age, we get to be happier day by day, wise enough to know that you may have faced the worst already. Being positive is being naive. Yes, I used to think so (well, used to). Obviously, I "woke up" and knew that some things (like being positive, being determined to do something, being able to chase a DREAM ) actually exist. Hopefully, this part of my life will continue.

Basically, optimism is like belief. You either got it or you don't. But, how about you? Have you ever been on the brink of being down and out, but you suddenly rose back up? Told yourself that you had to be positive? Come share your story.

Gong Xi Fa Cai~

Yes, it's Chinese New Year folks! And what better way to celebrate it with families all over the world reuniting with one another. It's amazing we've been celebrating this festival and not getting bored with it. I mean, it's not just about the red packets, is it? C'mon! It must be said that we all feel loved and appreciated in certain ways.

I've been indulging, which is good. Sometimes, everyone has to do something he or she likes without giving a damn about the consequences. Now, lets see.. I've definitely been indulging in all kinds of food. But, that's an overstatement (considering how thin I am)! And I fully expect every one of you readers to indulge (in your cookies, snacks, etc).

Unfortunately, in Malaysia, firecrackers are banned (or so they say). I've not been playing with any lately, and it's sad (now this is an understatement) . Firecrackers symbolize something great, something new, to me. That matter aside, it's a trend for the Chinese to have open houses. It's a time when we invite friends and colleagues into our homes. It's a good thing too, as both parties receive more red packets!

Now, this is not a complete summary of what goes on during Chinese New Year. (Yes, I know, the balik kampung traffic jams, the fabulous reunion dinners, the fact that everyone spends more than they should, and all that.) Well, the point is, to all our Chinese readers out there, what do YOU do during CNY?

P.S. Heck, I guess nothing's too good to be true, right? My Chinese New Year can summarized into one word: Overindulgence.

Jargons!

Life, as it is, is about making mistakes and learning from them. Who agrees with me? Now,now, I know you must thinking, what is this guy talking about? Life? Aiyo, this is soooooo boring. C'mon, tell me, what do you do when you make mistakes? Run away like a chicken? OR do you choose the other way, actually LEARNING from them?

You see, I've witnessed many people making mistakes. I've seen and learned not be like them(sorry to those offended). Besides, I have made some mistakes myself, and I've learned from them. It's like my brother and I. I've told him time and time again, not to do this, not to do that, but guess what? Obviously, brothers being brothers, we don't see eye to eye (sorry, bro). So, I discovered that I should leave him alone, let him know his OWN mistakes.. and of course, learn from them. Everybody's happy, period.

All right, so this sounds pretty immature.. who cares about petty things like my brother and I not liking each other? Okay, moving on to the 'bigger' stuff. Sometimes, you feel.. unappreciated (and by you, I mean me). Your friends leave you out, and you feel left out of their conversations. Feeling disappointed inside, you start muttering a few things, which they gladly ignore. Now, what do you do? This is mistake number one, going up to them, asking, "Why oh why do you cast me out?I deserve better." No, you can't do that folks, you tell them nothing, but you must NEVER feel bad inside. It's called suffering. We hate that.

I would have suffered, hating myself, but no, what would Anthony Robbins tell you?
You must never, ever lose faith in yourself!
Guys, so it sounds corny or lame, but I would beat that fear of losing my confidence. Instead of backing down, you start widening your horizons, talking to other people. That was one mistake learned. What about you? Have you suffered?

So remember guys, learn from your mistakes, and you might just end up wishing you made more.

Catch 22

It's a headache. Yeah, just a bloody headache. Being a productive has always been a 'thing' for me. I just wanna do things that are well, good. You see, it's has been bloody sickening when you know you got to do something, but you just can't.

Folks, no matter how hard you try, you fail. On no, wait, c'mon now, that's not true. You got to keep coming back up, pick yourself up, and fight. Unfortunately, there's a catch, it's not fair. Who told you anyway, that life was fair?

No, please, for god's sake, I know, it's a little depressing, on the brink of wanting to just swear at me, and say, " C'mon-lah, dude, why is your life so sad? Got to cheer up," . I like that, I've seen that enthusiasm, in the people around me. I feel proud, for knowing that they in turn can prove me wrong about how low life can be.

So, someone tells you that you suck, you look like sh**. I just tell myself, you gotta deal with it.. who cares what they think? But somewhere deep inside, you know that you really look like crap. I start thinking, why can't I look like that guy over there, with those tight abs, gorgeous face? I know, I know, if you keep comparing yourself with others, you'll never be satisfied. Yeah, gotta keep your chin up, don't judge yourself too much. Life's got to move on, babe. To all you folks out there, come, share with me, have you been judged before? And you feel like you wanna just cry, and hide in a corner? Join the club, don't worry, at least you know that things could have been worse.

Besides, it's like they said," Who cares about what them thinking?".

Review of The Week!

Movie : The Avengers (2012)

Awe-inducing, funny and action-packed, this could be the superhero movie of the year (not that there are many).

It is unusual for directors to modify the genre of superhero movies. To be precise, if we are looking for some popcorn entertainment, Joss Whedon could have easily turned this into a full-blown alien-versus-superhero affair (that actually would not be too bad). Interestingly to note however, he does not. With an affinity to blend action scenes with tongue-in-cheek humor, he balances the tone of the movie to be both rewarding and most definitely, superhero-themed.

There are plenty of noteworthy things you can brag about this movie. The cinematography, the script, the visuals, the cast, the production design. Surely though, there would be one or two flaws, but they are not really meant to be called 'flaws' per se. Bending the laws of physics, 'saving the world' is saving the US and how Hulk manages to comply to orders are just some of the minor 'flaws'. These are probably things that you would just like to ignore for the sake of giving the director the benefit of the doubt.

It is quite evident that Whedon has made this film his own. He incorporates humor into almost every scene, as if things are not to be taken too seriously in the world of The Avengers. And it should be like that. Again, the emphasis on superhero movies usually lie on destruction, life-saving and personalization of characters. But here, there is some of that, but not completely. No chessy lines. No rushed pacing. No cliche-ridden narrative. (Just Loki speaking in a not-so-sharp English accent.)

The movie can also be likened to last year's Deathly Hallows (Part 2); a lot of hype, and duly delivered. At least we could expect how the last Harry Potter movie was meant to be : an emotional, epic battle. The Avengers did deliver but there is something different to the whole theme that somehow manages to change our view on how superhero movies should be in the future. Is it Robert Downey Junior's Shakespearean jab at Thor? Or is the excellent cinematography of sticking to single shots instead of quick-fire editing? Heck, it could even be Scarlett Johansson's semi-obscene display of bust. Anyhow the movie is a success, most definitely.

Unprecedented, now that is one word to decribe Joss Whedon's take on a superhero movie.

Personally*... Stay in your seats till the end; there are rumors that an extra scene is added to the US version of The Avengers, for compensation of the late release.
